Subject: Mil & Chi Date: Sun, 25 Jul 1999 21:30:03 -0500 From: James Schneider To: cpforbes@cisunix.unh.edu I saw the Milwaukee show (upper balcony seats) this Friday and was blown away. I'm a long time fan and my expectations were very high. The show went way above my expectations. So much so that I got last minute tickets for the Chicago show (12th row center main floor seats) and drove down to experience it a second time. I don't have a play list on me at this time, but here are some general comments. First of all the venues were both around 5000 person capacity so it was a very intimate setting. Roger and his excellently chosen band were in top form. Each song was a huge production and they were tied together with the characteristic sound bites and haunting effects that help make his albums a complete experience rather that a bunch of songs. At the Milwaukee show he actually had to quiet us (the fans) down so he could get the count started for the encore presentation of Eclipse. In Chicago a very memorable moment was after Shine On when he put his hand to his heart and said "I still miss him". (He had projected photos of Syd during the song) During both shows he seemed to be having a great time smiling and laughing and interacting with the crowd (tearing down the wall). During long organ and sound effects segments the guitar players and Roger sat on couches around a table and played cards. These were absolutely the two best live shows I have ever seen (he blew away the Floyd Pulse tour)
